Let me tell your story…

I’m Michelle, the girl behind the camera and behind M. Jae Photography. I’m a wife, mother, and a seeker in finding the beauty in all things. My love for photography began over 30 years ago with my first photography class. Yes I know, that ages me a bit! I’m grateful I had the opportunity to learn with film and processing in a dark room. My career path took me another route, but my love for photography stayed strong! Throughout my travels, I was always looking for my next shot. Then, I had my babies! That is when my passion for capturing human connection in its truest, rawest form began. I realized how truly precious life is. The moments were fleeting, and they were growing and changing right before my eyes. I wanted to capture all those special moments, the looks, the giggles, the cries, the excitement after a good toot, lol! So I got my first digital camera, started studying, and snapping away. Now, I want to capture these moments for you! As a lifestyle family photographer, my goal is to tell your beautiful, timeless, authentic story!

My Process

  • 01 // let's chat

    Like my images, GREAT! Reach out and see if it’s a good fit. We’ll talk and hopefully schedule your perfect session! After scheduling, it’s time to get creative and discuss the vision for your shoot. I’ll ask about style, location, outfits, the snapshots you wish you could freeze in time. I am looking to capture the giggles you share, the way you are present in the moment, your smile, the way your child looks into your eyes, the way your partner holds you that you still get those butterflies in your stomach. This is what beauty is about, and I want to capture the emotion in these moments!

  • 02 // let’s make memories

    It’s the day of the shoot and we have decided on the perfect location. I’ll grab my camera, and I’ll meet you there! Relax and have fun, this session is about you! Don’t know what to do with your hands? Don’t know where to look? No worries! I will gently guide you, allowing for those intimate moments. It matters to me that the images we create together reflect back to that exact moment in time, the excitement because you are graduating, the overwhelming joy because you welcomed a new baby into your family, the love you share for the person standing right next to you.

  • 03 // time to get to work

    Being a photographer is a lot more than just picking up a camera and snapping away. Hours of time go into your gallery. First, I will cull and pick the perfect images from your shoot. Once I have the images, it is now time to edit. I do not just slap on a filter or a preset and call it good, no, not me! I really have a passion for the editing process. I take the time to hand edit each one of your photos. Then, I will create your online gallery & send it your way. From there, you can choose your set number of images or hopefully you will love your images so much that you decide you want them all!
